Just about to finish up The Stand, by Stephen King and loved it. I’m looking for something with a similar feel. Longer (500ish+ pages), character-driven, slow burn, high stakes, where the world is falling apart, and you really live with the people in it.
Doesn’t have to be straight horror. Open to post-apocalyptic, speculative, or even weird lit as long as it has strong characters and that “everything changed” atmosphere.
What should I read next?
Bonus points if it’s the kind of book that makes you feel slightly unwell in a good way

The Last by Hanna Jameson, though not as long as you would like.
Swan Song
The Undead Series by RR Haywood is pretty good.
The Deluge
The deluge for sure
The Dog Stars – my favorite post apocalyptic book. 99% of humans killed by virus. No mystical stuff like the stand
Lucifer’s Hammer – the before, during, and after of a comet strike
Also recommend the deluge like others.
