My new job is giving me quite a bit of down time and I’ve read a book a week since the new year to pass the days. Im stuck on what to get into next and need some help!
John Irving is my favorite contemporary author but I’ve burned through his collection and I’m looking for a new road to take with some of the same elements. I like his commitment to exploring complex relationship usually through a lens of young male maturation. I like his irreverence and the nonchalant way he sprinkles character misfortune and strange social situations into some of his works. I like Pat Conroy but find some of his work to be a little melodramatic for my taste. I just finished Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood and mostly enjoyed it. I would love some suggestions for an immersive realistic fiction novel along these lines! Thanks in advance for your help!
