    I am a very anxious person, I worry and stress a lot about everything, always picturing the worst case scenario. Socially, and even though I hate it, I am a people pleaser: in a conversation I am always thinking what I should say to not sound stupid, to not be judged and to not displease the other person. It is draining and I think I end up sounding superficial, so its a lose-lose situation, but I can’t help it. So I am looking for books that could help me have a more positive outlook on life, or/and books that could help me be more confident and socially relaxed, more like myself. I’m thinking mostly non fiction, like self help books or even memoirs in which the person was like me and managed to improve; but there might also be fiction books that can help. Any suggestions?

    (btw, I’ve read “How to win friends and influence people” and it was a major disappointment for me since the book basically teaches you to be a people pleaser, the opposite of what I am looking for).
