Hello everyone, TLDR at the bottom
I (M/28 listen to all my books) have always been rather picky about movies and books which in turn makes me return to ones I like quite frequently because I just can't find new ones that scratch the same itch for me.
I got back into books through movies because I loved how peter Jackson portrayed the worlds in Lotr, King Kong, The hobbit (1st one is probably my favourite lotr movie) and Mortal engines which sadly flopped immensely.
Game of thrones, House of the dragon and Harry Potter are also often rewatched by me.
The portayel of scale and love to detail made me want to know more about the worlds.
I read all 7 books of the mortal engines series before the movie came out after I saw the first teaser/trailer and have done so again probably 3 times by now.
I read the hobbit at least 2 times by now and have not quite gotten through lotr a second time just yet because I've been busy with the silmarillion and a few other books in the universe. I do see myself reading more of the universe but I think i am looking for books that are more casual at the moment because I struggle to concentrate and remember everything that happens.
The third series I have read probably too many times the past two years is Harry Potter.
Having seen the movies multiple times helps me pay more attention to other details and I'm excited to listen to the new full cast audiobooks again very soon too.
I read all narnia books but haven't watched the movies as a child so I don't have any nostalgia for it from there and the books didn't really pull me in as much as I had hoped.
I've enjoyed the witcher 3 pc game but felt overwhelmed with the books.
I considered GoT and other books from GRRMartin but I am not sure if it's worth it.
Dune is also something I've heard a lot about but also that it might be confusing and weirdly written?
I bought The way of kings from Brandon Sanderson but could not stand the narrator in the audiobook and would like to know if it's comparable to books I have read, especially because the run time of one book is almost as long as the entire lotr book.
I also fear that I will struggle to connect with the book because of the narrator and probable lack of grounding (it starts after a battle or fight if I recall correctly).
The last two I am considering atm are percy Jackson and eragon which are more aimed at younger people I think.
Oh and maybe Jonathan strange and Mr. Norrel since I've also enjoyed the show quite a lot?
I apologise for writing such a long text and hope that it's not too incoherent since it's quite late and English isn't my first language.
Any suggestions are welcome
