I have a 10yo daughter and wish to find books that would inspire and reinforce the notion that practice/hardworking are necessary.
Understandably, a logical question would be necessary for what? That, we will guide her to find her own goals, passions, meaning of life… along the way. For now, the emphasis is on the value of hardworking and resilience. Huge plus if it was a female protagonist.
She has read at the level of Hunger Game, the Martian, Project Hail Mary… I would recommend When Breath Becomes Air, Last Lecture… but I am not sure if those are age appropriate. I also suspect she finds The Boys in the Boat to be less engaging since she does not have much historical context yet.
