Even though I have like 4 books I still have to finish, I want more book suggestions. I like historical fiction and realistic fiction (I think that's what it's called). I want sad books that are sad for most of it, not just at the end. No romance, I hate romance books. Every time I go on YouTube or Google sad books the majority is romance books. I need some suggestions.

Japanese historical fantasy.

Shusaku Endo does incredivle historical fiction books.
Sigrid Undset also a classic author of historical fiction.
I read America was Hard to Find last year by Kathleen Alcott and really liked that!
