I just finished all 15 books of Wheel of Time today. (14 books and a prequel) Took me 4 months to read all of it. The series as a whole is in my top 3 favorite series.
But, I don't currently have a new book and/or series for me to sink my teeth into. I know it's only been like 8 hours since I finished book 14 of WoT, but I am itching for a new series already. Gonna mention the recent series that I've read and rough ratings for them (I've only just started officially rating them with WoT and Interdependency, so either other rating is mostly me guessing based off of how I liked them.) If there are multiple books in a series, I'm rating them as a series rather than individual books.
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan – 9.4/10
– I greatly enjoyed the series and wish there was more for me to read. (Besides the added novellas)
The Interdependency Trilogy – 10/10
– This series really surprised me and I read the entire trilogy in 3 days because it was so good. (I put Wheel of Time on pause at book 10 to finish this series, it was that good.)
Kushiel's Legacy, The Phèdre Trilogy by Jacqueline Carey – 10/10
– By far my favorite series of all time. The level of fantasy politics in the series is amazing.
Harry Potter- ???/10
– It was enjoyable, but the TERF author makes it impossible to rate properly. I don't support her but the magic genre is nice.
A Charm of Magpies by K.J. Charles – 9.5/10
– Great trilogy. Good mix of magic and mystery. With an added bit of spicy romance to top it off.
Demon Cycle by Peter V Brett – 9.8/10
– First set up 5 books were amazing. They're the reason why I moved onto Wheel of Time. The second trilogy, only first 2 books so far, was good too. (Might help that I know his editor.)
Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo – 10/10
– Another amazing series. I've read both books 3 times now each and I might read them again. I like the gritty nature of this one.
Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown – 9/10
– Great series. Only read the first 3 books. Not my typical genre with space, but I enjoyed it greatly. Might come back to read the other books.
Don't wanna make this post too long so lets do a speed round of books that I enjoyed, but don't have too much to say about them:
Ready Player One & Two, Redshirts, The Martian, Dark Matter, Project Hail Mary, The Giver Quartet, City of Ember.
With the question at the end here, there are 3 caveats. First is that I listen to audiobooks rather than physical books, so it would need to be old enough that there's an audiobook out there already. And second is that I can't read the Cosmere series yet. Some friends want me to read it with them as a book club. Third is that they're LGBTQIA+ positive. No more authors like she who must not be named.
From this list of books, what would you suggest reading next?
