Look for a book to “chew” on

I'm looking to read less books overall this year, but more books I can sit with. I want something that sparks my interests so much I spent time digging into the topic of novel. For instance, I once read Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series which spawn a weeks long dive into reading about Northern Ireland and The Troubles.

I tend to lean toward historical fiction, but I'm open to most things. I've read a variety of classics and have done some rereads. I've recently enjoyed Barbara Kingsolver, Octavia Butler, Nnedi Okorafor, Ariel Lawhon, Matt Haig, and Kate Quinn. I don't know what I'm specifically looking for other than I just want to read something and dwell on it for a bit.
