I enjoy books like The Count of Monte Cristo, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Prestige, Rebecca, Persuasion, and 1984. Kind of scattered, but basically something in a different time era with a dramatic buildup and possibly reveal, hopefully a classic. I tried Jane Eyre and actually didn't like it (had beautiful prose but such a toxic relationship). Suggestions?
