Hello everyone, I am new to the genre and I am in he mood to read a romance story that reminds me of a shoujo manga. I usually write off romance because western (meaning cultural) books have so much sex in them that it totally ruins the story for me. However, I'm willing to give them a try and find ones that remind me of the shoujo manga I love so much.
The problem is I don't know where to start and feel overwhelmed. Even if the covers look cute- it could be a total porn show inside lol. I am asexual myself and very much sex repulsed and skip the scenes in my fiction (and in my personal life haha!).
Would you veteran romance readers please recommend me some romance books to try that are low spice, and bonus points if it feel likes a shoujo manga or features ace characters. A couple sex scenes that are easy to skip are fine, and of course LGBT content is welcome too. I tend to like comedic shoujos but my favorites are: Fruits Basket, A Sign of Affection, Honey Lemon Soda, Monthly Girl's Nozaki-Kun, and My Happy Marriage if that helps. ๐
Side Note: I really wanted to read "First-Time Caller" by B.K. Boris but was scared to buy it because even though it looks like I would enjoy it- it might be spicier than I want >< (Waiting for the library to get it) so would anyone who has read this particular book let me know the spice level? Thank you! ๐
