Are there books out there that tell two stories at once? I’m specifically looking for something where the stories mostly don’t intersect literally (for instance, characters and places aren’t shared between the two stories, maybe with a few exceptions) but instead are connected in more abstract or thematic ways. I’d especially like to see if this has been done in a way where the stories take place in different worlds entirely. Perhaps one story is a fantastical surreal story and the other one is realistic and grounded.

The main example I can think of is House of Leaves, which I’ve already read most of.
