I just finished Doris Kearns Goodwin’s A Team of Rivals, a 900+ page biography of Abraham Lincoln. I really enjoyed but would prefer to read something next that is shorter (max 400ish pages) and doesn’t dwell as much on national existential crises or anything heavy. Mostly just want something uplifting, inspirational, and/or feel good. Bonus points if it’s funny.
For reference, I mostly pick up nonfiction history or historical fiction and my favorite reads last year were The Wager, All the Light We Cannot See, All the President’s Men, The Alienist, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
