I’ve realised recently that my favourite type of book is those big sprawling rich ones focusing mainly on one character and the hugeness of the world and their history around them. One of my favourite books ever is Demon Copperhead and I just finished I Know This Much Is True and I need more like that.
The kind of long story you feel like you’re living in, almost forgetting the characters are fictional. The longer the better but it’s more the vibe I’m looking for, kind of a redemption/realisation type of thing, following one person through the wilderness of their life.
I don’t think I’m doing a very good job explaining this haha, but anything that springs to mind when you think of the two I’ve mentioned. (Also similar that I adored was The Goldfinch, and The Bee Sting, I also enjoyed We Were The Mulvaneys, anything kind of like that).
