I get to pick my next book club book and I want to pick one that doesn't necessarily have a "good" ending. I am thinking along the lines of The Green Mile, Tomorrow & Tomorrow & Tomorrow, Never Let Me Go… something that makes you think of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Mis lol. Basically something with impact that you will sit with for a bit, but that isn't necessarily depressing the whole way through. Ideally under 350ish pages.

My book club read Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy and it was not a happy ending, but sparked a good discussion. Also helps there’s a bit of a mystery in the story. We brought it up again the next month because it stuck with us.
