A few months ago I watched the movie Fallen (1998), and the way it managed to merge supernatural elements with detective thrillers part really fascinated me, as I never consumed many stories that had that same premise and actually managed to make it work. It inspire me so much, in fact, that I started itching to write something similar, and I did manage to write a little before I went into the biggest creative/mental/physical breakdown ever and did nothing but watch TikTok’s and game for 6 months. Now, both my writing, my English vocabulary (as I mentioned in a previous post to this subreddit) and my reading habits are fried, so I’d like some recommendations of supernatural thrillers to try to pick up 2 out of those 3, and also try to have some fun.

Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher sounds right up your alley – wizard detective in Chicago dealing with supernatural crime. First book is Storm Front and it’s got that exact vibe you’re looking for

Also totally feel you on the breakdown thing, happens to the best of us. Getting back into reading after a long break is tough but these books are pretty addictive once you get going
