Can be any genre, but would love recs where the main protagonist doesn’t believe in god but isn’t so fucking sad about it. Extra points if it’s a woman protagonist too. Not really sure how much exist since I’ve only read a few. If there isn’t many, then books that don’t mention religion are welcomed as well.

The Handmaid’s Tale is kinda perfect for this – Offred is definitely not buying into the religious BS around her and she’s more angry than sad about it. Also check out Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, the main character creates her own belief system which is pretty badass
