i finished Hunted by Darcy Coates and i’ve already seen The ritual movie and don’t want to read something i’ve already seen the movie of, but i did love the ritual and i wish i read it first. so anything along the lines of supernatural, ancient native spirits/ gods, cults, crime/stalking, cannibalism, all in a forest or remote area would be super sick

The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling isn’t technically forest but it’s got that same claustrophobic isolation vibe in underground caves, plus some really creepy tech horror elements that might scratch the same itch
