just wondering if anyone has any recent recommendations over the last few years. I see a lot of the same books popping up which is cool because they are obviously really good books. just wondered if there was anything decent written over the last few years?

Been really into *Klara and the Sun* by Ishiguro and *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* if you haven’t hit those yet. Also *Mexican Gothic* was a wild ride – like if Jane Eyre had a fever dream in a haunted house
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingslover, Paper Castles by B. Fox.
Incredibly Bright Creatures
*The Axeman’s Carnival by Catherine Chidgey* is fantastic! I never see it mentioned and I take every opportunity to recommend it.
I also really enjoyed *North Sun or The Voyage of The Whaleship Esther by Nathan Rutherford* from the National Book Award finalists.
What is your preferred genre? If you dont mind horror/psychological books then these are great underrated reads:
-bat eater by kylie lee baker
-last days by brian evanson
-this thing between us by gus moreno
-the eyes are the best part by monika kim
-where i end by sophie white
-julie chan is dead (fell off a bit at a certain point, but prior to that it was really funny and hard to put down so i still think it’s worth it)
My Friends by Fredrik Backman
Night Watch by Jayne Anne Philips
2019 but The Overstory by Richard Powers
In the past two years, the books I’ve enjoyed the most have been Buckeye, The Correspondent, The Tainted Cup, The Wedding People, God of the Woods, All the Colors of the Dark, Yellowface, The House in the Cerulean Sea, The Women, The Starter Villain, and the Thursday Murder Club books. (Edit: to add that I’ve read 120 books during that period of time.)
I really enjoyed The Wedding People! It was honestly a really inspiring read.
Fantasy: House of the Beast by Michelle Wong
Horror: Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
~Weird~ Horror: The New Seoul Park Jelly Massacre by Cho Yeeun
