I used to read a ton of books as a kid, but now I'm 20 and only read a couple a year. I still read a significant amount of manga but I want to get back into proper novels.
My favorite genres are mystery, thriller, and fantasy, but I'm down for mostly anything. I like tense stories that keep me guessing. The more secrets there are to uncover the better and I adore a good twist.
I wouldn't say I'm too picky and I'll generally try most stuff out if the premise seems interesting, but there are some things I tend to dislike: really slow pacing, prominent romance (unless it's queer, but even then i still prefer it to be on the backburner), and often switching narrators/perspectives.
