Hello, I am fairly new to political and economic literature. Currently reading Das Kapital, but this is of course a quite heavy read, a slow burn.
I would like to read some lighter books in between, while also expanding my political and economic knowledge outside of Marx. Bias doesn’t matter, if it’s biased towards the right or left (as most political books are), that is not a concern. I just want to expand my knowledge and hear interesting perspectives.
Reading Das Kapital feels more like studying than reading, so I’d like a book I could just read on the go alongside this.

Damn you’re jumping straight into the deep end with Das Kapital lol. For lighter stuff maybe check out “The Undercover Economist” by Tim Harford – it’s like economics for normal humans. “Why Nations Fail” is also pretty accessible and talks about how institutions shape everything. If you want something more political, “The Righteous Mind” by Jonathan Haidt breaks down moral psychology in politics without being preachy
*Debt* by David Graeber
*The capital order* by Clara Mattei
Neither is necessarily a ‘light’ read, but they’re both a summer breeze compared to *Capital.*
