This might be too niche, but I’m hoping there is something good out there! I’m looking for a book (hopefully a memoir?) about a female astronaut and her experiences. My son is really into space right now and I’m itching to know more than a book written for elementary children is able to provide. I’m not really looking for fiction, but am open to it if what I’m looking for doesn’t exist. Not looking for sci-fi either. Hoping for a female voice, but am okay with male as well. Any recommendations?

I would recommend The Six: The Untold Story of America’s First Women in Space by Loren Grush. It’s a comprehensive overview of the first women in space.
Two fictional possibilities, though I’d say neither is a straightforward depiction, if that’s what you’re after:
Orbital takes place over a 24 hour period on the International Space Station. Two of the six crew are female.
Artemis is Andy Weir’s second book. It’s not as good as The Martian or Project Hail Mary so it kind of gets forgotten about. But it’s still a great read. It takes place on a moon colony and the main character is a young woman.
On the non fiction side, Mary Roach’s Packing for Mars might have a lot of the information content you’re looking for. I haven’t read it myself so I can’t say if it contains significant accounts from women.
Sally Tide: America’s First Woman in Space by Lynn Sherr.
