Wanting to get back into reading, missing the feeling I'd get as a kid getting lost in series like Wings of Fire, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Fablehaven.
Not sure exactly what I'm looking for, just a good story/adventure? Something with some stakes and some mystery, some action, but not a whole lot of super serious adult stuff like a lot of violence/sex I guess? but also at the same time I don't feel like I can go back to the YA stuff I was reading as a kid because its all from the point of view of a kid and written for a kid XD
In terms of TV shows, I guess im thinking a story like Stranger Things (first season), X-Files, twin peak, where you're like "omg whats going on??" and that's like one of the big forces driving the story is trying to answer questions and stuff.
As for genre, I think im gravitating towards like sci-fi, fantasy or something based in reality (but with a twist), bu tmaybe open to more? also, I tried Discworld but it was a little whimsical and silly for my tastes? idk the tone was just off for me personally.
Also if it helps I'm 21, a trans woman, american, and pretty nerdy (if you couldn't tell lol)
