ik it's extremely specific, but I'm CRAVING books like that right now idk why. Some examples of what I'm looking for:
Young Elites (love the darkness of this)
Not Even Bones (my latest read, it was AMAZING, I loved how the character is a villain and needs to confront her own morality, as well as how dark (and basically no romance!) the book is)
Unwind (not dark enough, too much romance for my taste but I liked the morality question)
Scythe (same as above)
Skinjacker Trilogy (same as above)
Unwind (Not morality-testing enough but I love the darkness)
The Testing (not dark enough, too much romance)
Hunger Games (same as above)
Divergent (same as above)
basically all the pretty popular sci Fi/fantasy YA novels I've all read

Vicious by V.E. Schwab might hit that spot – Victor’s definitely morally gray at best and it’s pretty brutal without being romance-heavy
Also maybe check out The Poppy War, though fair warning it gets *really* dark
