I love snappy prose. Sentences that paint very vivid images by using easy-to-follow structures but also occasionally employing clever metaphors and turns of phrase. Sentences that are economical without being boring, that cut the fluff out to keep the meaning clear.
Examples of writers who write the way I like include Gillian Flynn, Jeff Vandermeer (or at least for Annihilation, I haven’t read his others), and tbh David Sedaris. Maggie Stiefvater is another author I like, though her style is a little slower.
