I just finished a very dark and disturbing book (American Psycho), and while I’m glad I read it, it was extremely intense and full of gruesome details.

Now I really need something lighter to reset my brain.

I’m looking for something comforting, engaging, and not emotionally exhausting. Maybe funny, cozy, wholesome, or just easy to read. Romance, slice-of-life, light fantasy, or feel-good fiction would be great.

I enjoy character-driven stories and emotional comfort reads, so I’d love recommendations in that direction.

What would you suggest as a good “recovery book” after something so heavy?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. If you want a book that makes you want to pack a bag and head to the airport, I highly recommend a “Cook’s Tour” by Anthony Bourdain. It’s my ultimate comfort read. It’s not just about food, it’s about Bourdain traveling the world looking for the “perfect meal”. His writing is so raw, funny and evocative – you can practically smell the street food in Vietnam.

It’s the book that actually inspired me to start exploring the world through food. Definitely a great reset for your brain!
