I have a very niche request and I don't know if this exists. I'm Metis and as such so are my kids, my husband comes from a more traditional ranching family. My son who is 3 is really into cowboys right now and I'd love to find some stories about cowboys/the Wild West that also provide some accuracy and highlight indigenous folks roles in cowboying and ranching. Ideally something that doesn't romanticize colonization and isn't a "cowboys vs indians" sort of thing.
Does anyone have anything that fits the bill?

That’s such a thoughtful request and honestly something that should exist way more than it does. You might want to check out books by indigenous authors like Joseph Bruchac – he’s got some stories that touch on this stuff without the usual problematic framing. Also maybe look into books about Black cowboys since that history gets erased too, might find some crossover there
