No, it isn’t. Refuse to buy AI-narrated audiobooks.

Every AI-narrated audiobook I’ve ever given a few minutes to has been a soulless experience devoid of feeling.

Sorry, no. I’d rather find the time to read it than listen to AI narrated ones.

I fucking hate AI.

oh for real, this is such a game changer for listening. i’ve been using yoread to convert my own docs and epubs into audiobooks, makes it so easy to catch up on reading during commutes or when i’m just doing chores around the house.

I am so tired of AI “revolutionizing” the world we live in.

I read books constantly and listen to quite a few audiobooks. A good narrator is so important. Using AI narrators is such a bad plan, and I won’t be listening to them anymore than I won’t be watching stuff with “AI actors” if that became more than a publicity stunt.
Also, text to speech has existed for a long time. I’m so freaking tired of how dumbed down the term AI is now. This is not artificial intelligence.

The narrator for audiobooks is incredibly important. A bad one can quickly wreck it (look at the discussion of the Heated Rivalry audiobooks, for example). A great one (or cast) can enhance the experience (I know it’s controversial, but the Harry Potter full cast recording is a pretty amazing production).
There is no way that an AI is pulling off a performance that actually works.
That’s not even touching on the fact that this is taking away jobs from narrators.
I’m making a point to make sure the only audiobooks I’m listening to aren’t using AI.

By redefining do you mean make worse in every single way?
