I started reading again in the last year or two, after not having read much since high school. I’ve been looking for books that I enjoy, and a lot have been misses for various reasons. I do enjoy romance and smut books, but sometimes they feel too fake, at least compared to how I feel about sex. I’m asexual and don’t really like sex. I’m not sex-repulsed, just kind of indifferent.
I really want a book, or a few, that feature an asexual main character, or even a main character who just doesn’t get what others get out of sex. I want there to be sex in the book, preferably, but with the character not really enjoying it or getting intense pleasure from it. Not to the point where it feels dark or makes you unsure about their consent, just enough that it reflects my own experience.
Is there anything out there like that, or is this something I’ll have to take into my own hands?
