Been in a reading slump after the cosmere. I am on book two of the wheel of time but I think it’s so slow paced that I really just want something shorter and quicker.

I’m thinking red rising or skyward but wanted to hear some suggestions

    1. Red Rising is definitely fast paced if that’s what you’re itching for.

The first book in the series reads a tad YA (Pierce Brown definitely capitalized on the Hunger Games-esque trend that was popular at the time in order to get published) but the rest of the series is fantastic imo and definitely moves at a really fast clip. I particularly love how his writing as grown in the latter series he’s written within the world.

    2. I’m reading the first book in the Broken Earth series by Tchaikovsky an I’m loving it. It’s sci-fi with impossibly powerful adversaries, funny aliens, and well developed MCs and bad guys.

    3. If you something fast paced I suggest something by SA Cosby. Bonus for audio to add to the atmosphere, they are southern noir crime thrillers and all amazing. All the Sinners bleed, razor blade tears, and blacktop wasteland are my favorites. Not fantasy but good to pull you out of a slump

Red Rising, The Expanse, Dungeon Crawler Carl were all big hits that felt fast-paced for me. I’m a huge Cosmere fan.

    5. Dungeon Crawler Carl is a rocket ship. The amount of content covered in the first book is absolutely wild. Highly recommend if you want an engaging and fast-paced book
