Looking for a fiction book with a hetero relationship that is bad in some way and we watch it fall apart throughout the book. Bonus points if the main character is isolated from family/friends and only has their partner.
I am currently going through this and would like comfort in knowing I am not alone👍

Portrait of a Lady by Henry James
Shark Heart by Emily Habeck comes to mind
THE WEDDING PEOPLE
*The Vegetarian* by Han Kang shows a toxic marriage. It’s not the main thread but affects the storyline.
Wellness by Nathan Hill might be a good fit, they do have others in their lives but all their relationships are messy and bad in some way
SO odd but I just finished Raw Dog by Jamie Loftus, a nonfiction about the writer and her boyfriend going on a road trip across the US to eat hot dogs except the relationship falls apart across the span of the book. It’s not even the main point of the story but I found her descriptions of the relationship ending devastating and comforting and hilarious in the context of a hot dog road trip.
