For the last few years Iv read (listened too) almost exclusively sci fi, more specifically: the first 13 of the expeditionary force series, the bobiverse series, and a few other similar series. Also all of David baldaccis catalogue.

Im open to other genres I’m heavy into sci fi and thrillers like or something like the art of fielding or some other meandering low stakes book that’s not just boring. Any suggestions?

Have you tried more “fantastical” science fiction like Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolf where you have essentially a narrator who is unlike anything else and is just a meandering book about “stuff” that the interest is in revelations made by you, the reader, and the narrator might just be a psychopath who is a compulsive liar, or maybe he isn’t. It’s different for sure, and if you mostly do audio books, I wouldn’t recommend it. Short story book by William Gibson called Burning Chrome is spectacular!

    2. Slaughterhouse 5 has some sci-fi mixed with historical fiction and dark comedy. It might be a good step for you.

The Last Policeman series is three books. It’s pre-apocalyptic mystery/detective stuff.

I dunno how to rank books by stakes, so I’m just throwing out what I like.
