Hi everyone! I’m trying to get back into reading and I’m looking for a book that really hooks you fast—the kind where you keep saying “one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2am.

I’m open to pretty much any genre (fiction or nonfiction), but I especially enjoy:

    – Strong characters

    – A compelling plot from early on

    – Emotional or thought-provoking moments

    Thank you!

Dungeon Crawler Carl, hands down. Compelling characters that find themselves in an impossible situation. Lots of laugh out loud moments offset buy needing to put the book down because you cant see through the tears. Difficult and impossible situations requiring teamwork and absolute trust. Finding your humanity, fighting for what is right when no options are given. Each book is as good or better, than the next. Complex and riotous storyline.

Both reading the book and listening to the audio book are a must. The only downside is trying to get everyone you know to read it. They think a story about a guy and his suddenly sassy speaking, opinionated cat sounds stupid. There is a reason its on the best seller lists.

    2. Jana Deleon wrote a series set in Louisiana. Louisiana Longshot is #1. Fast, fun and a series so you can keep reading.

    3. Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles –A magic Inn, space werewolves and vampires, a lot of really unique aliens, mystery, romance, action, a fun and humorous series

    4. Project Hail Mary

Dark Matter and Recursion (Blake Crouch)

      Into Thin Air (non fiction)

The House in the Cerulean Sea and sequel

      Pachinko – Min Jin Lee

A sweeping, emotional family saga across generations.

History, love, and survival woven into unforgettable characters.
Once you start, it’s almost impossible to stop!

    6. For me project hail mary. It had good timing of jumping from present time and to flashback scene that you cant just put down.

    7. The Gambler by Dostoevsky is a rollercoaster from start to finish by probably the best author of all time. It is kind of short but if you like it he has some doorstoppers you can follow up with.
