It does not necessarily have to be fantasy, I just think this premise in a fantasy book would be funny. The character does not need to be the main character, they just need to be able to lighten the dark mood either through instilling hope into a world devoid of it or by taking the premise and turning it into a comedy. Think of a serious DnD campaign except the players turn out to be filled with an absurd amount of joy and whimsy. Any ideas come into mind?

Best example I can think of is Puck from Berserk. While the whole series is pretty dark and every character is very detailed, Puck is mostly a doodle doing funny expressions and Star Wars references. He also provides some healing powers, so he does lighten the mood in every sense, specially during the first chapters when it’s just Guts and Puck. Later, a kid called Isidro joins Guts, mostly being an impulsive kid and doing games with Puck.
