My daughter is turning 6 in a few months and she likes to read. I was raised in a non-English speaking country and my reading experience could be different from what kids have in US. I would appreciate it very much if anyone can give me some advice on what kind of books I can introduce to my little girl here in US. She is in kindergarten and her reading skills are above her peers for now. I get her lots of "I can read books" and she is comfortable with all level one books but level two books can be a little bit challenging. She finds them longer which she feels "tired to read". From my observation, she can read those level-two books but in a slow pace. She started to read Elephant and Piggie and now she is done with that stage. She reads Pizza and Taco and find it interesting. She reads similar series books but she sticks to books with illustrations. I guess those books are her level now. She has a Yoto player and she repeatedly listens to magic tree house series but never read one herself. I read some posts and kids at 5 are starting graphic novel and chapter books like Princess in Black or Junie B Jones but I doubt my daughter can do those currently. Some of kids in Kinder even read Magic Tree House books which might way beyond my daughter's level. I prefer books that she can read independently. I am kind of lost in picking books for her. She seems to have interest in Captain Underpants and I plan to have her try one next week. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
