Book recommendations for parents

My dad is currently going through chemo so I’m gifting my parents an e-reader and want to fill it with books for both of them.

I’m going to set them up with Libby but also want to have some already downloaded.

My dad is a very “dad” dad, doesn’t really sit still. I think he’d like westerns and historical fictions. Going to set him up with some McCarthy and The Lonesome Dove for sure.

Mom’s a bit all over the place but I think she needs some happy distraction books. I think she’s a mystery, thriller, horror type person. Maybe some “mom” romance?

I’m for sure giving her Project Hail Mary cause I know she’ll like it, maybe some King.

I think she’d enjoy Thursday Murder Club but I don’t really want to fill her head with thoughts of sick spouses. So any similar without the whole “we’re in a retirement facility that we’re going to die in” might be good?

Anyone got any other recommendations? Primarily it’ll be for mom, cause dad is sleeping about 16 hours a day right now but I want to make sure he’s included too.
