Hi all, I’ve recently gotten really into reading but there’s a certain itch I want to scratch. Ive begun reading the hobbit and stopped on page 99 which is right after he escapes from Gollum but the book is not very graphic so far IMO and it made me remember when I got a ps5 for Christmas with only wanting to play Elden ring but it was super hard and my first souls game (I think that’s what they’re called feel free to correct me) that I quit but I was so fascinated by the lore and the world and wanting to explore.
So I’ve come to ask if there’s a book or book series preferably where someone goes on an adventure in a vast world with very scenic descriptions and lots of world building similar to Elden ring and is not offensive to irl cultures? Also some gore is welcome but I don’t want anything sexually explicit or leaning too much on romance. I’ve listened to some of the eragon series years ago and liked it. Is lord of the rings like this? I’ve watched the movie ten years ago when I was ten and don’t remember much and my mom was way more of a Harry Potter fan so I never took much interest in it but open now if it fits this criteria.
Would Brandon Sanderson also be good to look into? Im a girl and love girl main characters and I think he has some female MCs in his books.
I didn’t really enjoy Dungeon Crawler Carl, I listened to some of the audiobook and I don’t think the comedy aspect was for me, maybe I should push through and it will get better but the long dialogue with the rat guy at the beginning, the fact that they are in a dungeon, and princess donut’s attitude threw me off. No hate to anyone who enjoys the book tho, just looking for something different.
Also I listened to some of the poppy war and I like it but it’s also not exactly what I’m looking for. Now that I’m typing Frieren also sort of fits this but I’m not a big manga reader anymore and want something similar in book form.
