I haven't been able to really get into a book, the furthest I've read one on my own has been around 90% of the way through. Finishing it now as I'm typing this. I want a book that I can really get into and could get me emotional

    1. The series that made me feel the most emotional has been The Wandering Inn by pirateaba. It’s my favorite series, too. And it’s free to read on its website.

Novel by Hanya Yanagihara – check for triggers

Shorter books include : Claire keegan “foster” or “small things like these”.

honestly the only book that made me emotional immediately was the fire next time

I did sob through a good chunk of a thousand splendid suns though

    4. A little life. There’s no other competition. It’ll fuck you up…

I read it twice and I think that says more about my psyche than a therapist can ever uncover.

    5. If you want a good book about a brave Pony, try The Lord of the Rings. There is hype for a reason.

I will recommend this book every time this question is asked on here: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Not a difficult read but great writing. It’s perfect in my opinion; 6/5 stars. Intense and emotional. I sobbed at the end.

“The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is a bestselling historical fiction novel about two sisters in Nazi-occupied France during World War II, who take different paths to survive and resist, highlighting the resilience of women during wartime. The story follows the older sister, Vianne, who must house a German officer to protect her family, and the younger, rebellious Isabelle, who joins the Resistance to fight the occupation. It’s a story of love, sacrifice, and the strength of the human spirit, inspired by real accounts of women who helped downed Allied pilots escape.”

I just finished both The Women of Brewster Place and The Men of Brewster Place by Gloria Naylor. Both amazingly written and sad books.

    8. Do you think you could list me 5-10 movies, shows, or video games you like? Sometimes the best way to get good recs is to start with what you find compelling in a story.

    9. **Never Let Me Go** by Kazuo Ishiguro DESTROYED ME. It’s easily one of my favorite books of all time, but if you want to be ruined in a good way, then read this book.

**The Story of your Life** by Ted Chiang is a short story, but I was reading it at work and I just began sobbing.

**Everything I Never Told You** by Celeste Ng made me very emotional! Her writing is so easy to read too.

**The Kite Runner** by Khaled Hosseini. This book was very difficult for me to read— it’s heartbreaking. I find it very difficult to read books in which>! children are harmed/abused. !<
