I want a very specific kind of book. Although it might be hard for me to explain, im going to try.
I have read many books where a character goes from sin to piousness. How their way of life is changed after they get a stark questioning of their life from someone. How that someone preoccupies their mind. How they find their way back to God.
But I have never read a book very the lead character is a very pious person. In his own sense he is spiritually rich, he has his identity clear and has his deen. But then is forced upon some questions. Some questions so fundamental that he has to consider his whole life. Questions that sit in the attic of his brain. And in that time that person destroys and rebuids his identity. A true identity.
A book I might say befalls a bit of this description was 'Fourty rules of Love'. But that is not what im looking for. It did not satisfy me and I found that book exasperating.
In other words you may say a book where a person goes from an inherited identity. And when they meet a source of life, a source of beautiful contradictions they are forced to realize that what they own is not theirs. And re contruct themselves with an identity that is theirs.
Note: I dont mind romance. What if for this pious person a non believer or a scandalous (in his thoughts) woman shakes him. And then he gets his real faith and by observing him she adopts too. (Just a theory to give you an idea.) I do not mind if it is not a woman. It could be a factor. It could be circumstances.
Note: It does not have to be religious. It could be spiritual, could be a change in the way of life, a way of living, a thinking process. Just something or someone that affects the lead character so deeply that they are tempted-if not forced to change.
Thanks.
