I'm starting a book club with my nephews to get them to read more.
They all loved reading as kids but as they got older picked up other hobbies and social media took some of their free time as well.

The youngest is 15, then 18, and 25.

I do want to start with fiction and eventually throw some non-fiction in there. They are all smart kids; they just stopped reading unless it was required in school. (AI has even made that easy to get around)

What a sweet thing to do. Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson is an engaging, heartwarming read with an off-the-wall plot. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is a classic mystery page turner. Or maybe try looking into sci fi?

Looking for Alaska by John Green if they’re interested in contemporary young adult fiction. Some copies might even have book club questions in the back to get the ball rolling.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak if they’re interested in historical fiction. Probably also can find copies with questions in the back for this one.

Holes by Louis Sacher. Also contemporary ya fiction, but includes but a side story that takes place in the old west ties heavily into the events of the present day.

The Giver by Lois Lowry for a dystopia. It has the benefit of being pretty short, and sometimes length can be intimidating for new readers. I found it very well written and well paced.

You can also try books that tie into something they’re already interested in. Like, if they all like Star Wars, there’s tons of books to choose from. I personally recommend Darth Plagueis.
I know some video games, like World of Warcraft, also have tie in books, but I can’t personally speak for the quality, as I’m not a video game fan.
