I'm a pretty quiet person by nature, with a small social circle. This means I don't get to speak a lot, and coming off of the back of a long period abroad where I also wasn't speaking English very often, I find it all too easy to lose some of the more… eloquent parts of English. I'd like to get some of that vocabulary back. Also, I just really love a well written book, and would love something that sucks me in. Fiction or nonfiction, either is fine! For fiction, would prefer a one-off book, or at most a short series.

For non-fiction, from a sheer stylistic writing perspective, I think Barbara Tuchman is the most gifted history writer I’ve across. She has a book called A Distant Mirror about 14th century Europe. It’s a fairly long book, but amazing writing. I love to recommend it.
