I want to write a story about the American frontier and right now I‘m looking for books dealing with the genocide of the native Americans. This can be a fictional or non fictional book, dealing with a specific crime on a tribe or one that writes about this topic more in general. It would be even better if you can recommend one that was written by a native American, probably even a whiteness, writing about those events from his perspective.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
bury my heart at wounded knee is probably the classic for this topic. empire of the summer moon is another solid one that focuses on the comanche specifically. for fiction, there will come soft rains has some brutal but important perspectives. might want to check out some of louise erdrich’s work too since she’s ojibwe and writes about native experiences really well.
