Completely new to the genre. I mostly read non-fiction stuff on social / political topics.
Very cliche but I loved Arthur C Clarkes Space Odyssey very much. What would you recommend if I loved that? Interested in sci fi with a subtle horror element I guess.
I want something that’s beautiful and haunting rather than action packed and space war

Solaris by Stanislaw Lem
“Plutoshine” by Lucy Kissick is one underrated book I really enjoyed.
Then, anything by Andy Weir or Blake Crouch is a safe bet.

I really like the Brainships series by Anne McCaffrey. Start with The Ship Who Searched because it is the best one and you get a space archeologist.

Sounds like the Three Body Problem series is an endeavour you would enjoy.
