I just had the epiphany I enjoy books written in first person as opposed to third. This year I’ve read the Poisonwood Bible, the Red Tent, Bridges of Madison County (eh), Two for Texas (I barely got through that but couldn’t quit on a 140 pager) and just finished Demon Copperhead. I picked up East of Eden because it was suggested as a good follow up to DC, but thumbing through the pages, already don’t like the third person perspective.
I have the Little Bee on my shelf so may start that next but looking for other good first person books!
I’m not looking for any Colleen Hoover style writing or no fantasy. Other than that I feel like I’m pretty open. Fiction or nonfiction

Based on the books you mention, maybe check out these:
The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver
Gilead, by Marilynne Robinson
The Red Tent, by Louise Erdrich
Shuggie Bain, by Douglas Stuart
She’s Come Undone, by Wally Lamb
Heft, by Liz Moore
Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt, which is nonfiction, or the American classic A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.
