Got into a conversation with friends about the pros and cons of boarding schools, especially bougie or small private ones. I always thought it would be a fairly good experience for a teen, but my friends brought up damaging/traumatic/general weird corruptness involving these institutions. So I’m wanting to read more real-life stories on this topic if anyone has any good recommendations 🙂

There’s a 2017 book by Sally Bedell Smith called “Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life.”
I haven’t read the whole book but the section that was excerpted in Vanity Fair that same year is mostly about how horrible his boarding school years were. I’m not looking to invoke sympathy for the royal family but it was a pretty devastating account of what that experience was like.
