Kind of epics (within reason!?)

I've read Shantaram and loved it, also recently read Don Winslows trilogy Power of the Dog/Cartel/Border and loved the grizzly crime feel to it.

Any suggestions of something I might like based on that I can get stuck into would be much appreciated!
