Hello Reddit friends!! I was wondering if anyone had a rec for a novel or series that’s about mermaids but leans more toward science fiction than fantasy. I want mermaid culture, society, architecture, history, etc as “realistically” depicted alongside science as possible. Scientifically backed worldbuilding would be awesome. Doesn’t specifically have to be mermaids as we know them, things like tritons and sea elves in DnD also work. The setting should also mainly be in the waters and by the perspective of the mermaids.
Anybody know of a novel like this??

Maybe not quite it since it isn’t from the mermaid perspective, but Into the Drowning Deep might be interesting to you.
