My personal favourites are Gifted Hands by Ben Carson and When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. I’m especially interested in biographies about surgeons, if possible.

This is going to hurt by Adam Kay. He’s a former NHS doctor who now works in television. His books concentrate on the more amusing aspects of the job and might be more of a palate cleanser between the heavy stuff. He has other books but this is his most well known.
