Hello, I'm an English Major and I will be taking Children's Lit soon. my professor has asked us to come up with a list of books that we should read and then discuss in class. I've had this professor before and he is very snarky and sometimes silly, but I often find my interactions with him to be embarrassing. I haven't been able to find any books that are a good fit, and I don't want to suggest the wrong thing and her made fun of. I was hoping anyone who knows about Children's Lit, either by taking the class or just passion for the area, could suggest any good books to add to the list.
I know we're reading Coraline and Charlotte's Web, and I was possibly thinking The Outsiders would be good? but I'm unsure. He hasn't specified an age range or genre outside of general Children's Lit, so anything would help. Thanks!

Go for the classics?
Pippi Longstocking
Aesop’s Fables
Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Etc
What were books you enjoyed as a child? Coraline and Charlotte’s Web seem pretty standard. Your professor doesn’t sound malevolent.
