I just read the y/a fiction I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys. I would love to read some non fiction about this time. Some recs of the general history of it and memoirs would be appreciated thanks
you should definitely check out The Last Hundred Days by Patrick McGuinness it’s technically fiction but based so heavily on his own experiences in Bucharest during the fall of Ceaușescu that it feels like a memoir. for pure non-fiction, Red Horizons by Ion Mihai Pacepa is a wild (and controversial) look inside the regime from a high-ranking defector. definitely a heavy read but so fascinating if you liked the Ruta Sepetys book.
