Or I guess more accurately speaking mad engineering.

Should be transhumanist or just pro-science, I am sick of the Christian/Hollywood sci-fi where transcending humanity, creating life or whatnot is evil by default.

Bonus points for getting into the weeds of the imaginary technology/nerding out over real scientific concepts. I guess it could be magitech as long as it's sufficiently explained.

Prime example of the vibes would be Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age" Foglio's Girl Genius books and comics, Eclipse Phase RPG setting (and also more obscurely: fanfics written by SpiraSpira dissecting the crazy science of Fallout and Cyberpunk RED).

Honestly just any novel where the protagonist commits Scientific Sins (as defined by TvTropes) and it is a good thing.

Robert L. Forward – Dragon’s Egg and Starquake. Also his Rocheworld series. In both series he gets into the weeds of how MOST of the stuff “works”.

    2. if you haven’t read project hail mary by andy weir yet, you’re missing out. it’s basically just one guy nerding out over science/engineering to save the day, and it’s definitely pro-science without the “playing god is bad” tropes. greg egan’s stuff also hits that hard transhumanist itch if you want to get really deep into the weeds
